Pundits have said inane things like his campaign concentrated on the youth vote and so won, and Harris’s didn’t — which is bullshit and nonsense. Harris’s campaign had Beyonce, Swift and others on board and talked directly to the youth vote all the time, but they appealed to ethical, reasonable and sane voting adults, who are in the minority in America. Obviously.
This grievous morning of November 6th, 2024, on the occasion of Donald Trump’s disastrous re-election (not just for America, not just for women, but for the world), Brendan Buck writes:
“In a contest against high-minded ideals, conservative culture romped and former President Donald Trump is returning to power riding a wave of discontent with the political left in America. In places like Pennsylvania, long-held Democratic voter registration advantages eroded significantly. It’s hard to argue that the GOP has suddenly become more appealing. Indeed, the favourability levels for both parties remain relatively low. And Trump did not offer the country a compelling or serious plan to address his party’s problems. Instead, he offered them an opportunity to reject the perceived leftward shift of progressivism and to stake a claim for conservative culture. This debacle was manufactured by Fox “News” out of a whole cloth composed of intentional disinformation, vital omissions, and lies. As I wrote in 2017 on the occasion of Trump’s first inauguration:
