In a piece titled, ‘Catholic Schools Keep Kids Away From Lesbian Astronaut, Teaching kids that homophobia is A OK,’ James Finn wrote on Medium about how three Spokane Catholic schools had boycotted their students attendance at an appearance by a female astronaut on the basis of her sexuality:

Respected religious institutions drive homophobia in the United States. They teach it in both churches and schools. Three Catholic schools in the Spokane area just handed kids a vivid object lesson in how to stigmatize LGBTQ people. While diocese leaders are being publicly coy, teachers, parents, and students all know that a trip to see NASA astronaut Anne McClain was cancelled because she’s married to a woman.

In the piece, Finn describes how: “Schools instruct students from the official Catechism that members of gender and sexual minorities are ‘gravely depraved’, ‘intrinsically disordered’, and ‘morally evil’. Not only is this kind of teaching deeply toxic to queer kids, it encourages other students to look down on and stigmatize their minority peers.”

Finn’s article prompted me to compose my mind around my own thoughts around the matter — my historian’s admission that, in fact, it is the Church that is “depraved.” It is simply vile, on so many levels, with little — of theological, ideological, ethical or moral substance — to redeem it. It is an organization of such harrowing spiritual terrorism (Hell, Satan, Demons, Mortal Sin, Original Sin — all that crap), and so institutionally, systemically misogynistic ( as well as misopedic, and unlawfully — in most civilized nations — discriminatory toward LGBT) individuals as not to be, any longer, borne. Gender and Sex Hate was learned at the knees of the ascetic Church Fathers, as doctrine, from the 1st century.

These systemic, institutionalized, learned behaviours devolve from the Church, in the West as well as all the other parts of the world it colonized, as the inheritor of the Roman Empire’s infrastructure, armies, bankroll, Mithraic orders of the Roman soldiery turned into militaristic monastic orders and monastic scholasticism (which became the university system, the Seven Liberal Arts devolving from the Trivium and Quadrivium of monastic scholasticism, which came to them from the original ‘Trivium and Quadrivium’ of the Mithraic military orders’ initiatory system of elevations), and the other major institutions bequeathed to the West by the Romans.

This devolution continued down the generations from the Church Fathers to the point that the most violent stage of the Inquisition was directed against women, ignited by a papal Bull, “Summis desiderantes affectibus” (Latin for “desiring with supreme ardor”), sometimes abbreviated to Summis desiderantes, issued by Pope Innocent VIII on 5 December 1484, which goes in part: “…unmindful of their own salvation and straying from the Catholic Faith, [they] have abandoned themselves to devils, incubi and succubi, and by their incantations, spells, conjurations, and other accursed charms and crafts, enormities and horrid offences, have slain infants yet in the mother’s womb, as also the offspring of cattle, have blasted the produce of the earth, the grapes of the vine, the fruits of the trees, nay, men and women, beasts of burthen, herd-beasts, as well as animals of other kinds, vineyards, orchards, meadows, pasture-land, corn, wheat, and all other cereals; these wretches furthermore afflict and torment men and women, beasts of burthen, herd-beasts, as well as animals of other kinds, with terrible and piteous pains and sore diseases, both internal and external; they hinder men from performing the sexual act and women from conceiving, …they blasphemously renounce that Faith which is theirs by the Sacrament of Baptism, and at the instigation of the Enemy of Mankind they do not shrink from committing and perpetrating the foulest abominations and filthiest excesses to the deadly peril of their own souls, (…) the abominations and enormities in question remain unpunished not without open danger to the souls of many and peril of eternal damnation.”

Note that all these malefic effects are precisely those attributed to toxic feminine physiology, specifically to menstruation or its arrest in menopause, which just makes it more toxic, according to priestly theological, philosophical documents like ‘De secretis mullierum’ (‘The Secrets of Women,’ authored by St. Albert the Great or a disciple— scholar, philosopher, bishop, and doctor of the Church, as well as the teacher of St. Thomas Aquinas). Like a benighted misogynistic plague from Plato and his student Aristotle, these classical Greek sex-Hate precepts can be found in their tomes of Natural Philosophy on ‘Women and Other Animals,’ that lie at the foundations of Occidental culture, religiosity, society and ideology via their having been ensconced at the very foundations of the Church by Neo-Platonist Church Fathers like St. Augustine, St. Jerome, St. Anthony and others.

These sex and gender Hate values are actually anti-values if you gauge them against those of the original matrifocal societies of the prehistoric West. In sprawling, homogenous societies like those of Old Europe, documented in the works of archeologist, Marija Gimbutus and others, diametrically opposed, actual life values come to light as having characterized our most distant past as a civilization, and for far longer a span of time.
