‘On Friday, hundreds of Christians demonstrated outside the Haifa Museum of Art against a work that has been on display for five months — “McJesus,” depicting Ronald McDonald on a cross. Three police officers were injured in the protests. On Thursday night, a firebomb was thrown at the museum. Culture Minister Miri Regev has so far failed to publicly condemn the violence against the museum, but she didn’t pass up the opportunity for more censorship. On Thursday, even before the demonstrations erupted, she sent a letter to the museum’s director demanding that the work be removed. “I’ve received many complaints about a grave insult to the Christian community’s sensibilities,” she wrote. She also threatened to cut her ministry’s financial support for the institution.’ (“Culture Minister’s Demand to Remove Work of Art Is an Insult to Culture: Instead of protecting culture from attempts to undermine it, Israel’s culture minister has joined the assailants,” Haaretz Editorial , Jan 13, 2019)

They’re understandably unwilling to lose the billions in religious tourism dollars from American Evangelicals who believe that Jerusalem is mile zero for the Apocalypse, the Rapture, and the divine destruction of the Third Temple that triggers the Second Coming of Christ, the Third Temple being yet to be rebuilt upon the Dome of the Rock, currently inconveniently occupied by the 7th-century Al Aqsa Mosque, opened in 705 on the site to which Muslims believe that Muhammad was transported from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca during his Night Journey, and from which they believe the he rode to ascend to heaven and then descend to harrow hell, like Christ, on the back of a metamorphic centaur-like magical creature called Al-Baraq, a winged entity with the body of a horse and the upper body of a woman — a sort of lady blend of Pegasus and Chiron the centaur, very much unlike Christ, but very like many a tale of shaman and goddess figures in pre-Islamic Arabia, especially among the desert horse tribes like the Quraysh, from whom Mohammed was descended.

The prophecy as per The Second Coming and the Apocalypse, etc., from the Revelations of John (of Patmos), is why American Evangelicals and Born Again Christians around the world support Israel with a Zionist fervour. It is why Mike Pompeo, a zealous Right-Wing Evangelical Christian, is at pains to reassure Israel about Trump’s impulsive move to abandon Israel and the Kurds in their fight against Iran and the Islamic State. It’s not because they like Jews. It’s because they really, really want the Third Temple to be built so God can destroy it, so that they and all the believing ‘Good Christians’ around the world can be raptured up, avoid the shit show of Armageddon, and be grandfathered-in for membership in the Two-Thousand-Year Reign of Christ, otherwise known as The New Jerusalem and/or The Kingdom of God, set to start up after the cleansing fires of the Apocalypse and the Judgement Day, where everyone who has been opted in to the New Jerusalem is going to be rich and happy, occupying their perfect and eternal resurrected bodies.

No shit.
