Inhumanity For Inhumanity’s Sake
The Trump Administration’s entire policy on immigration (from “shithole countries” at least) is pure inhumanity for inhumanity’s sake. Their excuse is that it will serve as a deterrent, but this is false advertising.
The true reason for it is that the rabidly fearful, xenophobic, racist, ant-immigrant Trump ‘base’ will love it precisely for its extreme cruelty to the Trump-constructed ‘Enemy-Other,’ which corresponds to the Polluted Other, the Alien Other and other abject icons of ‘otherness.’ It assuages their Other-directed terror, fear and loathing, and their need to ‘punish’ those whom they can degrade on their hierarchical value scale as being even lower down than themselves in terms of intrinsic worth. Indoctrinated self-loathing in an aggressively abusive ‘kiss up/punch down’ pecking order is vital to its success. Miller drafted it; Trump loved it.
It does have a silver lining though. It’s becoming very obvious in its sick Hate credo, and is engendering some magnificent liberation and equality ideology and action in response.
