India, Brazil and the U.S.A.

With the percentages of the population in America resisting the vaccine — most Republicans and nearly all Republican males (who seem to have it all mixed up with ‘masculinity,’ as per Marjorie Taylor Green and QAnon) — so many Evangelicals and Right Wing conspiracy theory consumers — herd immunity may be difficult to achieve. It’ll be a sad and simple case of who’s vaccinated and who isn’t, for decades to come, if the virus isn’t presented with the closed door of herd immunity within a certain window of time.

If the novel coronavirus becomes established in the human population due to failures on the part of populous nations like the USA and India, Covid-19 will indeed, as Trump trumpeted, “be just like the flu” — embedded, endemic and permanently ensconced within our species. And possibly canines. (They get it but don’t tend to die of it, although at least one Cocker Spaniel in England did.)

Because the virus is life-threatening, vaccine ‘passports’ would become necessary for international travel, especially to certain countries like the U.S.A., Brazil and India, like proof of immunization to diptheria, cholera, and other ‘tropical’ diseases (hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, cholera, yellow fever, rabies, anthrax and meningitis among them) are currently required for travel to certain equatorial countries.
