Getting High on Denial

Coronavirus Cases Are Spiking In Places Where Trump Supporters Protested Stay-At-Home Orders.

Pandemic Deniers, like Climate Change Deniers, self-medicate with denial to suppress the constant low-level terror that is their existential lot, and to release from the sensation of not — in any way, shape or form — being even the least bit in control of their lives.

This is ironic and phenomenally sad, as acting in acceptance and accordance with our actual, shared reality, responding sensibly, logically, responsibly and beneficially, would assuage both the terror and the sensation of not having control.

In point of fact, acting out of acceptance of scary challenges, and not from a constantly strained and fraying denial, would fund hope, courage, optimism and would, actually, put them back in control of their lives (or possibly in control of their lives for the first time), forever ending their tragic dependency of being constantly other-directed — pathologically other-identified and lost.
