‘Hellmouth,’ from Augustine, De Civitate Dei

I think that any serious attempt to talk to or teach committed Trump supporters has to involve an understanding of brainwashing effects and skills acquired through studying and applying de-programming rationales, logics, and techniques. ‘There’s no talking to them’ — at least not in any normal, casual, conversational, discursive, unformatted or non-therapeutic way.

These subjects are actually casualties of a sophisticated equivalent of a military psi-ops mission, involving psychological profiling by Cambridge Analytica, AggregateIQ, QAnon, and others. The agents and agencies behind the promulgation of alienating and disorientating conspiracy theories are focused on disseminating insidious paranoid fear and pernicious fantasies of inclusion in a ‘family’ with secret, hidden knowledge — a form of narcissistic symbiosis. It’s an addiction and doesn’t respond to discursive logic. It’s seductive and irrational. Self-fuelling and self-sustaining — parasitic. It feeds on any attention that’s not knowledgeable deprogramming or therapeutic in its application and aims.

I wonder if the Trump-supporters and seditionists within police ranks are reconsidering their loyalties and affiliations after their comrades were so savagely assaulted and maimed and, in one case, killed. I wonder if they are reconsidering their systemic, institutionalized abuse of black lives and of Black Lives Matter activists. I wonder if they’re drawing any logical conclusions about ‘serving and protecting’ — or about service roles, at all.
