Bill Barr lying under, in and as his oath.

Bill Barr was only ever using Trump.

‘For what?’ you may well ask.

To stack the Supreme Court and federal judiciary with Religious Right anti-abortionists in keeping with his publicly stated fundamentalist Catholic beliefs, clearly professed over the course of 30 or more years in talks, lectures, articles and interviews, at the Vatican, in academic forums, and Republican political theatres.

No great mystery there.

When Trump became too unwieldy and ridiculous in terms of his blatant, ignorant, flagrant criminality, the justices had been appointed, and the Idiot-in-Chief was no longer serving the cause, Barr dumped him. His loyalty has always been to the far-right Catholic instruments of Opus Dei and other, even more secretive brethren, and his self-interest paramount in his attempts to shave years off of the purgatory that, according to his belief structure, awaits him, and thus evade the eternity in Hell promised by the Church to all who ‘disobey.’ This is the meaning behind his gnomic, otherwise incomprehensible statement concerning his ‘legacy,’ of May, 2019:

“Everyone dies and I am not, you know, I don’t believe in the Homeric idea that you know, immortality comes by, you know, having odes sung about you over the centuries, you know?” — William P. Barr, asked about his legacy as attorney general

He means that ‘immortality’ comes only by virtue of divine salvation, and not by the offices or institutions of mortal men — the law, the greater good, the social contract, the debt owed to common humanity, civility — all those vain human structures are insignificant in his view. As per his wholly irrational fear-based worldview, and his slavish obedience to the Church and Church doctrine, all that matters to him is The Judgement Day and his own deliverance, whereby he may sit at the right hand of God and avoid the eternal fire. According to his own words. No word of a lie.

Such individuals are wholly dangerous. When they have nearly untrammelled power and agency, they — naturally — are more dangerous still.

Barr single-handedly vandalized the American judiciary and left it in a shambles — worse, far worse even, than it already was. It requires rebuilding and renovation, from the ground up.
